PlainsOnLine.net  welcomes you! Plains Network Sells Internet Services to SECOM Plains Network Services, Inc. President Jeanne Sorensen announced Tuesday that the company is selling its PlainsOnLine broadband and dial up internet access division to La Junta-based SECOM, a division of Southeast Colorado Power Association. Plains Network will continue to offer sales of computer and electronics equipment, as well computer repair, at its Eads location. "We have offered internet access since 2001 in Kiowa, Prowers and Cheyenne Counties," said Sorensen. "SECOM has been our fiber optic service provider from the start. We discussed the possibilities for many months, and everyone agreed there was great potential in combining the two services." Sorensen said the company has expanded steadily since its start, and SECOM's plans for continuing expansion mirror her own ideas. With a larger staff, she believes SECOM is well positioned to continue as the dominant internet service provider in Kiowa County. "The past seven years have been great, and I've enjoyed working with our customers, so it was difficult to decide to sell part of the company," states Sorensen. "At the same time, I'm looking forward to focusing on other parts of my business while knowing our customers will receive great service and support." Current PlainsOnLine customers can expect a generally seamless transition since the staffs of both companies have been working together to migrate systems, including e-mail addresses. Plains Network Services was founded in 2001 as a dial-up internet service provider, and quickly expanded in to broadband access and other related technology services. In 2006, the company opened an office on Maine Street in Eads that has served as its corporate offices and a retail sales location offering a variety of computer and consumer electronics items. SECOM operates nearly 1,000 miles of fiber optic network across south and southeast Colorado, and is the largest wholesale internet service provider in southeast Colorado. In addition to Plains Online, the company acquired Rural-com in January of this year.
